I received an email from someone asking about a "hack" I mentioned for installing Apache, MySQL, PHP on Windows XP Home Edition. The hack I referred to in the
"Ultimate Development Machine" post was to install IIS (Internet Information Server) on XP Home, as it's only supposed to be available in XP Pro.
In fact Apache, MySQL, and PHP can be installed on XP Home just by reading the install files that come with the downloads. I'd recommend installing MySQL first, then Apache (as a SAPI module), then PHP. There are a few little things that seemed vague in the instructions, I tried to note them
here.
Sorry I couldn't respond directly, for some reason your email address wasn't in the email.
