I've never really liked subscribing to mailing lists. If it's a large list they usually generate a ton of emails, and they're just so difficult to weed through. After flipping through some of the messages on the fedora-list one day I saw someone mentioned http://gmane.org. It basically transforms mailing lists into a newsgroup compatible format, viewable through my favorite email client, Thunderbird. Gmane has thousands of lists available, and you can always subscribe a list if it's not available.
Now I can browse through all the lists I was never subscribed to because I didn't want to deal with all the mail. And I can do it at my leisure, since it's via a newsgroup interface.
